Man Down in India

Our student missions team left Thailand for India to help train in media and administration there. This was their own initiative and we are so very proud of them. But, our heroic team will land back in Thailand today or tomorrow, one hero short. Yeabsira (in the photo left) was electrocuted and died at the college in India.

The high voltage line first knocked Nathan (in the photo right) unconscious and Yeabsira tried to help him. Nathan has just been released from hospital in India.

Matt has just flown to India to help and support Kris and Joseph and all those involved in the Bible College there.

The back story: A very intense ministry year at VABC Thailand had produced three lifetime commitments to the ministry in Asia, three third year students who were working together in the Continuum Media team, the voice of the ministry. Yeabsira and Alyssa were planning on marriage and serving together. Alyssa is the natural leader, a powerful girl, the daughter of Mark and Kiwanda Redner who pastor in the Ottawa Valley. Nathan is the son of Steve and Alyson Middleton, pastors in Kincardin, Ontario. Yeabsira’s family are immigrants from Ethiopia, living in Edmonton. Yeab had brought his little brother, Natneal, to Bible college in Thailand. Nati has just returned to Edmonton to be with his folks. We are in the long process of moving Yeab’s body back to Canada.

The implications: This is a very intentional, demonic strike against the future of the gospel in Asia. These would have been our first new staff recruits since we released half of our home base staff 2 years ago. This month, Judah, our new administrator guy, has also returned to Canada indefinitely because of a concussion. This is an unbelievable set back and the only thing that can come of it for us now is a bigger miracle!

This event totally changes our story. Terry and I have raised 33 children in the ministry, travelling all over Thailand doing evangelism and worship ministry. Our growing team has raised hundreds more leaders and ministries in a bunch of Asian countries – nearly 40 years on the front lines, in some of the most dangerous places in the world, and we have never lost anybody. Until now.

The promise: God promises a turn around, beauty for ashes, life from death! We have our ear to heaven and our eyes on the promises. God has something new for us, new recruits, new frontiers, new partners and a new level of impact in Asia.

If you are a monthly partner, we appreciate the most, if you are not, we need you now. Your investment of faith is for the futures of Nathan, Alyssa, and all the others, this is your Great Commission destiny.

If you would like to do something to help us through this challenge, you can make that happen through the PARTNER or DONATE buttons. Thanks

We love you, Al & Terry

“May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been rooted and grounded in love, be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints the width and length and height and depth of His love and know the love of Christ which far surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19

Lord we stand united in faith, holding each other up over the loss of Yeabisra. May his passion for the Kingdom continue on though us. Thank you Jesus for Your peace. Amen.
